Sara and Brian-- August 28, 2010-- Dry Creek Ranch

We are still awaiting photos for our gallery, but you can view photos of Sara and Brian,s Farm Country Chic wedding at Emily Heizer's blogpost below.

Sara was fun to work with as a DIY bride.  She organized the details and brought me all of her jars that she had been collecting mostly from her mom and dad's jar collections.  She had burlap linens, wooden signs, and the cutest blue mason jar vases.

We loved every aspect of Sara and Brian's wedding and we just love the picture of her bouquet!

Thanks Emily!

The Memory Journalists

We were recently blogged about on The Memory Journalists website for their Thursday talk of the town.  We were so excited they asked us to be a part of their photo shoot for Bella Donna Bridal Salon and we had such a great time coming up with the design for the photo shoot.  Jenn and Carie are awesome to work with and they were so trustworthy to allow me to design within my own diameters for this photo shoot.  The following link to their blog will show some photos of the shoot along with an interview of Garden of Weedon Designs and myself Suzanne O'Brien, Owner/Designer, of Garden of Weedon Designs.  We will follow up with more pictures of the photo shoot in the near future.

Wendy and Dale- August 21st- Firehouse Restaurant

Wendy and Dale were married in the courtyard patio of Firehouse Restaurant. The inspiration of this couple's nautical themed wedding stems from their passion of sailing and Wendy's east coast roots of Main. Wendy is a total doll and Dale is her night in shining armor. You can see this in the photo below of their reveiling to each other by way of sailboat on the Sacramento River.  Event Planning was provided by Catrina Maria Event Planning http://www.catrinamariadesigns.com/  Photography was captured by Jenn Bartell Photography and design  http://www.jennbartell.com/

Staged Wedding at Sulca Estates in Elk Grove, California

This wedding was staged to give a beautiful example of how a regular backyard can be made into a wedding venue within hours.  We joined hands with Where I Do Weddings, Catrina Maria Event Planning and Design, and Jenn Bartell Photography Design.  Where I Do Weddings helps couples looking for a more private setting such as a private estate find and locate such a venue.  Catrina Maria Event Planning created the wedding environment by ordering the chairs, draperies, candelabras, linens, etc. to give this wedding its unique look.  Jenn Bartell captured the essence of this backyard wedding in the most perfect way.  Celebrations Party rentals provided the materials for Catrina Maria to design with.

Kathy and Collin Northshore Tahoe- June 2010

Thai Ceremony
Kathy and Colin kneel next to each other on special rod-nam pedestals with their
palms pressed together in the
traditional prayer-like gesture called wai.

Kathy and Colin are anointed with three marks on their forehead, made with sachet powder.

Each will wear a malai – a lei of flowers.

Two circles of woven thread,
called sai mongkol, are
placed one on each partner’s head and
linked in the middle by a single thread,
forming a bond, which
connects the couple and
symbolizes their spiritual union.

Guests are invited to
offer blessings of lifelong happiness, good luck, and
other auspicious wishes, while
pouring lustral water from the sang (conch shell)
over the couple’s hands.

Press on Twin Soup

We were flattered to have our opening announced on Twin Soups website. The article is very cute and explains how we are different yet offer the same services as other florists.  We just want to be a little unique and offer a bit more unique designs that convey the right message.

We are in the process of making our website better.  This picture will eventually be attached to our home page. We love how Jenn Bartell captured the feeling of our flowers in this photo.  For now I wanted to share with everyone the inside of our floral studio.  Garden of Weedon has now been located on K street for 2 months.  The space is beginning to feel like home.  We are enjoying having a larger space to design and the interaction of the midtown shoppers and the midtown business people in general.

If you have not been into our Sacramento floral studio we offer the following:
Everyday Retail Bouquets and Designs, Wedding and Event Design, and Design Classes

Special Days at Garden of Weedon Designs:
Tuesday:  Tuesday Ties ( inexpensive hand wrap bouquets)
Friday:     Five O'Clock Fridays ( 1/2 off flower stems from 5-6pm)

We are also carrying organically grown flowers from a local grower.

Flower Terrarium

ONE OF OUR WEEKLY ACCOUNTS

I just wanted to highlight one of our weekly accounts.  I liked the way this came out to look like a flower terrarium  This is just one idea when you are designing with such a large vase to incorporate the middle of the vase into the design.

July Second Saturday

Marques Cameron was our first "out of house" artist for second Saturday in our business.  This young man is talented, creative, passionate, and truly a gentleman.  We could not have asked for a better first artist to show their work in our space.  We had so much fun and were very excited as his "Coltrane" painting was swept away in seconds by a second Saturday art shopper.  Thank You Marques Cameron for displaying your work in our studio this month.  Here are some pictures to see what Second Saturday is all about in our studio space!

Josefina and Victor June 5th 2010

Congratulations Josefina and Victor.  This couple was married in the beautiful St. Mathews Church in San Mateo, CA. Josefina's bouquet consisted of Hydrangea, Burgundy Peonies, Ivory Roses, and Mango Calla Lilies.

The church was on a grand scale.  The Altar pieces were so tall we finished them on site.  Check out the cieling above the altar in the photo below.

The girls had beautiful persimmon dresses and bouquets were designed out of white cushion mums, mango callas, and burgundy peonies.

How could I resist a picture of the Flower Girl.

Flower Therapy Class

Have you ever wondered how those POMANDER (kissing balls) are put together?  Well, it is not simple as I learned about 3 different methods until I found the right way.  Many times you will see these pomander balls used in wedding ceremonies, but their history is from when they were made from oranges with cloves in them to make spaces more fragrant and then transitioned into being used during the Christmas holiday when people would make them out of mistletoe and hang them for kissing under.  Now in modern day we see them used frequently in wedding ceremonies.

Join us at GARDEN OF WEEDON DESIGNS on July 24th to design your own pomander ball with green carnations for that fresh summer feeling.  The balls can be hung or placed simply on your table or on top of a vase.

Join us for Flower Therapy on July 24th in our new Design Studio from 10-12am.  Fees are $65.00 per person and pre-enrollment is required.  Sign up by July 21st!  Call to register:  706-1337

Arcularus Events and Team win 1st in NACE tabletop Competition

Garden of Weedon Designs is honored to be part of the Arcularius Events Team as their in house floral design department.

This week was the NACE tabletop competition and as always Catriona, owner of Arcularius Events, brought her vision to life.  The vision this year was  the confluence of the American River in the Auburn, California landscape.  Assembling the table top the day of the event was such a fun transition to see.  The end result was fantastic and our teams table won 1st place.  Congratulations to Catriona and the Arcularius Events Team! www.arcularius-events.com

A special thank you to Jenn Bartell Photography & Design for taking these beautiful photos!www.jennbartell.com
